Reading Reading Reading!

What a lovely term we have had in Year 6! We have been enjoying so many books – both individually and as a class, and it has been lovely to see the children sharing their enjoyment and recommending books to one another. ‘Kensuke’s Kingdom,’ by Michael Morpurgo was a much loved class read, and we have been using Philip Pullman’s ‘The Firework Maker’s Daughter,’ as a basis for our own creative writing. Charged with the totting up of minutes for the whole-school readathon, Year 6 were enthused and energised, and managed to top the leaderboard, helping the whole school to smash our 60,000 minute target!

Loving their inviting class book corner, Year 6 also decided to offer their services as the practical, logistical super-team in helping to empty, sort and re-fill our fantastic new library in the Junior Building. Thank you so much to the BPA for their incredible artistic vision and ability to drive things forward quickly. The children, and staff, love the new, relaxing and inspiring space.
