Curriculum

At Brabyns we go above and beyond National Curriculum requirements, enabling our children to experience the breadth and depth of knowledge and skills that will help them to develop their own particular strengths and talents, whilst providing them with firm foundations for their future.

Our knowledge-rich curriculum, enhanced by specialist teaching in Performing Arts, Science, Physical Education and Spanish, prepares the children for the rigour of entrance examinations for Year 7 places and for life beyond Brabyns.

Our provision is underpinned by the Brabyns Learning Values: Resilience, Independence, Responsibility, Curiosity, Seeking Challenge and Reflection. Our aim is to foster a love of learning, whilst helping children to understand what makes a successful learner and effective contributor to society.

Challenge and Enrichment

Small class sizes facilitate in-depth knowledge of each child’s strengths and areas of challenge, meaning that we can tailor lessons for individuals and small groups, to consolidate or extend learning where appropriate.

Our curriculum provision is enhanced by visiting speakers, trips and residentials, and an array of clubs and activities are offered before, after and during the school day.

Assessment and Year 7 Destinations

Children are regularly assessed and monitored against national standards from an early age, enabling us to support and advise families on appropriate senior school choices. Our assessment data allows us to identify discrepancies between potential and achievement from Year 1 upwards, allowing for early interventions where necessary.
