Eco School Commitee

School Priority- Speak Up Speak Out

To further develop pupil voice, ensuring a whole-school commitment to listening to the views of all children, whilst encouraging them to grow as confident individuals and effective contributors to society.

Litter

As ‘Litter’ is one of our key areas this academic year, the Eco School Committee headed out on a Community Litter Pick on the morning of Friday 24th March. Armed with litter pickers, bin bags, Hi-Viz vests and wearing protective gloves, we actively promoted Brabyns’ anti-litter campaign. We were delighted when lots of members of the public thanked us for our good work!

In the Summer Term we wish to carry out further Litter Picks within the community, with the hope that we can entice some of our parental community and other Brabyns’ pupils to assist in keeping our local area litter free.

Healthy Living

Annabel and Charley met with Mrs Bailey this term to ask her about Brabyns’ approach to a healthy menu. Mrs Bailey has suggested the following ideas:

  • Meat free days
  • Sharing a ‘Recipe of the Term’

We also will work with Mrs Oatley on Healthy Living.

Transport

We have been in touch with the community police, and they will be coming in to school to chat to us about the parking issues outside our school, as we are really concerned about this. We want to keep all the pupils safe.

Green Flag Application

Next term we plan to apply for our Green Flag Award. Noah and Charley (Year 6) will be completing the online application, with the input from the rest of the Eco Schools team. Watch this space!
