Our Phase One Phonics sessions have been a huge success. So far the lessons have involved the children engaging in activities including instrumental, environmental and percussion sounds. These are helping to develop the children’s listening and speaking skills further, in addition to enlarging their vocabulary. This in turn will help lay the foundation for the children progressing onto the next phase of Phonics; Read Write Inc.
Starting Read Write Inc Phonics in Nursery is helping to provide our children with a flying start in reading and writing. We have been progressing through the Set 1 Sounds, learning to name the speed sound and write the letter using the corresponding rhyme. To challenge the children further, additional activities are incorporated in the adult focused sessions, including practising their segmenting and blending skills in preparation for entering the subsequent class.
